Residence Giardinetto is in Mandello del Lario, 11 km far from Varenna and 10 km far from Lecco, positioned directly on the lake, it will allow you to enjoy completely the relaxing atmosphere of the Lake.

The town is situated on the peninsula created by drifts of Meria river, at the feet of Grigne mountains with ridges and needles among those stands out the Horse Stone, m.1923, and in front of it, the long and uniform green ridge, studded with coastal towns, that from Onno reaches Bellagio.
In the Middle Ages the village, situated near the lake, was surrounded by walls with towers and encircled by a wall that, in case of need, was filled with water, making the fortress become a tiny artificial island; the actual Via del Fosso could delineate the ancient dam.
Since 1921 the name of Mandello is also worldwide known because there is the main-branch of an historical motorbikes factory: Moto Guzzi.
The Lake
The Lake of Como is known across all Europe as a very good place to practice sailing sports, but it’s not all: the branch of Lecco is the most windy side of the Lake, from March to October the “Breva”, typical thermic wind, accompanies our afternoons.
Sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing are the most practiced sports.
The Mountains
From Mandello it is possible to reach with about three hours walking Pian dei Resinelli or, with longer and harder climbs, to walk to the Rosalba Shelter, the Elisa Shelter and the Bietti Shelter in Releccio.
The road to Pian dei Resinelli passes across the villages of Tonzanico and Maggiana, where there is still an ancient tower, famous because there lived Barbarossa when he invaded the town in 1154; the path to the Rosalba Shelter passes through the village of Rongio, where there is another Middle-Ages tower.
In the close Valsassina valley it’s possible to ski from December to March.
